The Role

As Head of Firmware Development, you are passionate about leading the new Firmware Team for our IIoT Device. The team will include several firmware developers as well as the quality team. You will be able to build your own team since hiring new team members is one of your first tasks. With your team, you will setup the firmware development platform for our next generation device delivering the data for predictive maintenance and empowering the railway industry to operate at the highest availability possible. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the firmware team in scoping, designing, implementing and maintaining the software for our devices

  • Provide operational and strategic guidance to all team members

  • Guide the team in setting up a development environment and toolset that allows us to focus on the KONUX core services and leverage products and technology to build the most efficient development setup

  • Motivate the team to deliver best-in-class solutions within a fast-paced startup environment

  • Grow the team by hiring talented candidates and developing leadership and deep expertise in the team

  • Establish development policies, standards, organization and governance

Your Profile

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in a leadership role in Firmware / Embedded Systems Development, preferably with experience in IIoT devices.

  • Experience in recruiting, managing, training, and retaining a team of ambitious and highly skilled firmware developers and testers

  • Ability to collaborate with all stakeholders inside of the company to ensure all parties are aligned and supportive of the project's priority, requirements, timeline, and objectives

  • Advanced experience with programming language C/C++, embedded systems implemented with and without an operating system.

  • Demonstrable experience in the use of development and project management methodologies e.g. agile and tools such as Jira

  • Extremely flexible and adaptive to changing priorities

  • Knowledge of the latest advancements in software trends, techniques, and tools for embedded systems

  • Full working proficiency in English

  • You do not know the difference between software for embedded systems and for server applications.

  • You have not  led a (firmware) team for at least some years

  • You do not feel comfortable building your own team from scratch
