The Role

As People Lead for our Embedded Systems team, you are passionate about building and motivating teams as well as supporting individuals in their personal development and learning needs. You will lead the team in a matrix structure in close liaison with the “Embedded Systems Technical Lead”. By owning disciplinary leadership responsibility and a people- & team-centric perspective, you will complement the technical lead role. This means you will also be able to understand technical challenges and contribute to their solution. One of these challenges: Setting up the firmware platform for our next generation IIoT device, delivering data for predictive maintenance for railway industry.

Your Responsibilities

  • Recruiting new team members, incl. hiring interviews and evaluations

  • Onboarding and mentoring new team members

  • Conducting individual performance reviews 

  • Assessing individual skill gaps and learning needs, as well as defining personal development plans

  • Creating a motivational work environment with a high level of team cohesion and staff retention

  • Implementing and optimizing team´s processes by using Agile methodologies, such as Scrum

  • Capacity planning and resource management 

  • All further activities associated with disciplinary leadership responsibility, such as administrative and coordinative tasks

Your Profile

  • Degree in electrical engineering, software engineering or another relevant field

  • 6+ years of experience in software development for embedded systems and 2+ years in a leadership role

  • Experience in recruiting, building, developing and retaining a team of ambitious and highly skilled embedded development experts

  • Very good understanding of embedded software development and its architecture for Industrial IoT devices

  • Excellent communication skills with full working proficiency in English

  • Excellent organizational skills, incl. the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities

  • Ability to collaborate with all stakeholders inside the company to ensure all parties are aligned and supportive of team´s objectives, requirements and timelines 

  • Demonstrable experience in the use of Agile methodologies, e.g. Scrum and tools such as Jira
