We defined 10 core values for work and life at KONUX

1. We focus on results and the joint mission

With everything we do, we always have a clear objective in mind. We don’t want to get stuck planning but decide quickly and focus on the desired outcome and the value it provides. We set high goals and try to find the smartest ways to achieve them, even if it means leaving our comfort zone. As KONUX engineers we are builders, innovators and problem-solvers. We value both efficiency and ingenuity and we combine our energy and our ideas to create sensor technologies that are industry-defining.

2. We enjoy freedom and take ownership

We know that we can only succeed as a team if we are also strong as individuals. We take responsibility for our decisions and trust that we all work towards our shared goals. We believe in creative freedom rather than micromanaging and in aligned autonomy rather than fixed solutions. We support initiative and commitment. We don’t complain but speak up and initiate change. At the same time, we do not hesitate to ask for advice and we help when others need our help.

3. We listen well and communicate clearly

We are convinced that listening is the key to effective communication. We listen to each other carefully, pay attention to detail and ask for clarification if need be. Only when we try our best to understand what our colleague is saying, we can give a well-thought-out, precise and helpful answer. Some issues might be time-sensitive and require swift action, so we structure our thoughts and communicate clearly. We keep our questions, problems or suggestions short and to the point. Background information is not the preface but the supplement. The same goes for non-verbal communication. We pay attention to the structure and clarity of our emails and documents and make sure everyone gets all the information he or she needs.

4. We let the best idea win

Our work is based on science and technological know-how. Therefore, data is what we rely on and believe in. We take a scientific approach to work and build on hypotheses, while remaining flexible and constantly adapting to new findings. The ideas that present the fastest and smartest ways to reach our goals and promise consistently robust results are the ones that will prevail. We concentrate on the solutions, not the problems, and keep challenging each other to find the best strategies.

5. We strive to grow

We value open and honest feedback and we continuously work on improving ourselves and the ones around us. We know how to give constructive feedback and take criticism as an incentive for improvement and not as an offense. We actively pursue ways to continue our education and broaden our horizon, and we take our time to reflect on our achievements and weak points. We are balanced and aspire to improve in work as well as in our personal life. We learn and live smart.

6. We always default to positivity and transparency

We are proud of our teams’ ability to see difficult tasks as challenges and opportunities to grow. Our success relies on people who remain positive and keep spirits high, even if things do not go as planned. We know that we can only grow personally and as a company if we stay motivated, open-minded and calm instead of acting rashly. What we need in addition to a positive attitude, however, is transparency in our work. We organize weekly company meetings to keep everyone up to date on our progress and to share our departments’ success stories. We answer any questions that may arise regarding product development, customer acquisition or funding so that the entire team is on the same page at all times.

 

7. We embrace change

We aim at always understanding exactly what our customers need and how our sensors can help. The best way to help solve our customers’ problems is to put our heart and soul into developing truly great products. This is why our engineers continuously strive to adapt and improve our technology and to make our sensors the best they can be. We encourage our tech talents to keep an open mind and to seek alternative strategies to overcome difficulties and solve problems. We embrace new technologies and methods, if they drive our product development and, subsequently, our customers’ business.

8. We are agile and there is urgency in everything we do

We believe in rapid iterations. The faster we try, the better we can improve. We are fast and take quick actions but never lose sight of the quality of our work. We know that there are limits to speed in a hardware company and we will always have to deliver outstanding quality. We believe that done today is better than done tomorrow and that we can push each other to be faster and better. We find solutions quickly and constantly adapt to new circumstances.

10. We are diverse – We are one

Even though we all share the same passion for our technology and believe in what we can achieve together, our team is anything but homogeneous. On the contrary, we combine a variety of nationalities, academic backgrounds and areas of expertise in one company and we are proud of this diversity. We believe that our multicultural, multifaceted team is one of our biggest assets and that it helps us gain new perspectives on important issues and different, innovative approaches to reach our goals. We want to always stay curious, creative and challenge each other, while working as one team. In order to foster this sense of community, we organize team dinners at local restaurants, team events and sports activities as well as monthly bar nights.
