MUNICH, Germany – Munich-based IIoT Startup KONUX will be one of 30 global “Technology Pioneers” attending this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos (23-26 January). WEF nominated KONUX as a Technology Pioneer last June, as one of the world’s most innovative start-ups and scale-ups in such fields as artificial intelligence and robotics, virtual and augmented reality, blockchain, cybersecurity, autonomous driving, drones, and biosciences. Technology Pioneers represent a global community of trailblazing companies. They are usually in the start-up stage, with the potential to significantly impact business and society through the design, development, and implementation of new technologies and innovations.
Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner, commented on the nomination of KONUX: "Bavaria is an internationally outstanding high-tech location. With our excellent research infrastructure and innovative companies, we offer ideal conditions for growth to creative start-ups, founders, and young companies. We actively support them because today’s pioneers and ideas are tomorrow’s successful companies and business models. The Bavarian company KONUX, which was recently invited to the World Economic Forum as one of 30 ‘Technology Pioneers’, stands for this type of success story. This is a great acknowledgment for the company and a strong global signal for high-tech both in and from Bavaria."
KONUX combines smart sensors and AI-based analytics to enable higher train punctuality and network capacity through predictive maintenance planning and an optimized utilization of railroads. KONUX co-founder and CEO Andreas Kunze will be representing the company at the WEF: “We feel very honored and we are proud that the World Economic Forum acknowledged us as a pioneer in the important future fields of artificial intelligence and predictive maintenance. We are working on digitizing the rail industry, as well as supporting a faster implementation of industrial IoT technologies to help shape the future of mobility.”
The Technology Pioneer program aims to give next-generation innovators a voice in solving global issues and enables them to contribute their ideas in multi-stakeholder meetings. Technology Pioneers contributes to the exploration of future trends, analyses how new technologies transform business models and their implications for individuals, industry, governments and civil society.
The community launched in 2000. A selection committee of 60 members, comprising technology and innovation experts, academics, venture capitalists, and entrepreneurs, annually select about 30 companies. Amongst the Technology Pioneers of the past years are companies like Airbnb, Dropbox, Google, Kickstarter, Mozilla, Palantir Technologies, and Twitter. Besides KONUX, only five German companies were nominated over the past five years.
