London/Munich. The Munich-based IIoT start-up KONUX has received the prestigious CogX Award in the category "Outstanding Innovations in AI: IoT And Sensors" in London. KONUX prevailed over the other two finalists Sight Machine and Verdigris.

The CogX awards celebrate the best in AI around the world, recognizing outstanding achievements in industry, journalism, and academia. This year the prizes were awarded in the categories Innovative Uses of AI, Contributions to Research and Academia and Investing in AI, among others. Other winners include Netflix, Accenture and Unilever (https://cogx.co/award-winners).

KONUX combines smart sensors and AI-based analytics to enable higher train punctuality and network capacity.

KONUX’ CEO Andreas Kunze said: "We are very proud of the CogX Award. This prize underlines that our solution has struck a nerve. Rail is an unbeatably economical way of transport, and our aim is to contribute to increasing the availability of systems. We are very confident that we will be active in more than half a dozen countries by the end of this year".

Judging for the 2018 CogX Awards was done by a 20-member panel of industry and academic experts and journalists, including Mike Butcher, Editor At Large at Techcrunch, Esther Dyson, American journalist, author, businesswoman, Sir Nigel Richard Shadbolt, Principal of Jesus College, Oxford and William Tunstall-Pedoe, founders of the British company Evi, whose AI technology and platform were used to develop Amazon’s cloud-based Alexa Voice Service (https://cogx.co/cogx-2018-awards).

Earlier this year KONUX participated in the World Economic Forum Davos (WEF) as one of 30 "Technology Pioneers" worldwide. Prior to this, the company had been recognized by the WEF as one of the most innovative start-ups in the world.
