KONUX Strengthens Its Scale-Up Journey With The Strategic Advisory Board

At KONUX, a leading AI scale-up in railway, we continue to accelerate our growth and impact in the industry. To support this journey, we have established a Strategic Advisory Board, bringing together railway industry experts to help shape our growth, roadmap and strategy, driving innovation and supporting international expansion. Formed in July 2024, the KONUX Strategic Advisory Board consists of three independent advisors with deep insights and expertise in railway, technology, and operations. 

The board supports the company in refining our growth strategy and roadmap, advancing AI solutions and solidifying partnerships with other leaders in the Railway technology space. 

Meet Our Strategic Advisors: 

Dr. Volker Kefer

Dr. Volker Kefer has been a long-time advisor to KONUX, lending his expertise and experience since 2018. He brings more than 20 years of railway experience, including as a Board Member of Deutsche Bahn AG. He played a significant role in establishing Deutsche Bahn’s technology department, and before that, he served as a Board Member at Siemens.

At KONUX, Dr. Kefer advises on product and customer expansion and has been instrumental in building KONUX’s strong foundation in our biggest market. He has been supporting the company in expanding its interests in the central European region, specifically as an official advisor for Deutsche Bahn.

Steve Featherstone FREng

With nearly two decades of railway experience, Steve Featherstone’s tenure at Network Rail lasted for 13 years, during which time he served as the National Infrastructure Maintenance Director and then National Track Programme Director. He also served as President of the Permanent Way Institution (PWI) for a number of years and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. His expertise in infrastructure reliability is invaluable in his function as he is KONUX’s official advisor for infrastructure performance improvement and Network Rail. 

Steve Featherstone described his motivation to join KONUX’s Strategic Advisory Board as “From a passenger and freight perspective, improving the reliability of the railway, increases confidence in the railway, leading to more journeys and increased revenues. I look forward to working with the KONUX team as we work with railway companies to improve their asset reliability.”

Dr Jürgen Wilder

As a strategic advisory board member, Dr. Wilder brings a wealth of expertise in rail industry operations, strategic management, and technological innovation. His vast experience in leadership positions in the railway and mobility industry started with his tenure at Siemens as CEO of Global Business Unit Mainline Transportation. He also served as the CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of DB Cargo AG and then, as an Executive Board Member & CEO Rail at Knorr-Bremse AG. Dr. Wilder’s proficiency is in steering companies through industry transformations and his commitment to sustainable mobility. As a key member of the KONUX Strategic Advisory Board, he plays a vital role in the definition of strategic growth goals and levers.
