KONUX has won a new framework contract from Infrabel, the Belgian railway infrastructure manager, to deliver AI-powered solutions for condition monitoring of switches and crossings. Over the next three years, KONUX will support Infrabel’s efforts to optimise maintenance and increase the reliability of its network.
This new agreement is a key step for KONUX as we continue expanding across Europe, working with infrastructure managers committed to using digital technologies to drive smarter and more proactive asset management.
Infrabel manages one of Europe’s most strategically important railway networks, with over 3,600 kilometres of track and more than 6,600 switches. The infrastructure manager plays a central role in Belgium’s economy by enabling the daily movement of over 4,000 trains, serving both passenger and freight operators.
Ensuring the health of critical infrastructure such as switches is vital for maintaining smooth operations and avoiding costly disruptions. Infrabel has long been committed to improving reliability and safety through innovation, and the newly awarded KONUX framework contract is part of its digital transformation journey.

Switches are among the most maintenance-intensive assets on the railway, and their failure can lead to significant delays or safety concerns. Traditionally, switch condition is assessed through periodic inspections and reactive maintenance – approaches that are often inefficient, time-consuming, and based on incomplete information.
To address this, Infrabel launched a tender to find reliable, accurate systems capable of measuring vertical displacement and acceleration at switches. These measurements provide critical insight into the dynamic behaviour of the switch and enable early detection of issues such as ballast settlement, defective rails, or other mechanical degradations.
KONUX was selected to meet this challenge with a robust and scalable solution that delivers continuous asset condition monitoring and AI-driven insights supporting data backed decision making.
KONUX combines AI-powered analytics with field-proven industrial-grade IoT devices to give infrastructure managers a real-time view of asset condition. KONUX Switch helps operators understand how their switches are performing, detect problems earlier, and make smarter decisions about when and where to send maintenance teams.
The solution delivers several key benefits for Infrabel:
Continuous monitoring of vertical displacement and acceleration
Accurate detection of degradation trends before failure occurs
Support for predictive maintenance planning, reducing unplanned interventions
Improved asset availability through better-informed decisions
By acting earlier, infrastructure managers can extend the lifetime of assets, reduce maintenance costs, and minimise operational disruptions. As part of the agreement, the first installation rollout has already been completed. This initial deployment will help establish our solution’s value and performance in Belgian network conditions, and lay the foundation for wider rollout.

CEO - KONUX
The contract with Infrabel follows a series of recent successes across Europe, including long-term partnerships with Deutsche Bahn in Germany and Adif in Spain. KONUX is now supporting infrastructure managers in multiple countries as they move toward data-driven, intelligent maintenance strategies.
“We’re proud to be supporting Infrabel’s goals for higher availability and smarter maintenance,” said KONUX CEO Shlomi Hagai.
With Infrabel on board, KONUX continues to demonstrate how AI can play a critical role in building the railway of the future: more reliable, more efficient, and better prepared for tomorrow’s demands.
