Using L&D budget in an impactful way

What is your role at KONUX?

I am a Business Analyst at KONUX Labs, the innovation unit of KONUX. The core of my role consists in exploring new product ideas and validating them with the market, basically working on the next big thing that will make railways a more reliable and convenient mode of transport. To perform well in this role, it is very important to quickly understand various topics that overlap business and technical fields, navigate different stakeholders, and draw conclusions; and that is what truly excites me – there is always something new to learn.

One of the things I really appreciate about working at KONUX is the support I have received for my professional and personal development. Each year there is a Learning & Development budget of 3,600 EUR assigned to each employee of KONUX. One simply proposes activities to their manager and the respective HR Business Partner who review suggested items, and issue approval.

Defining personal development goals and choosing the right resources

My manager and HR Business Partner have been great in allowing me to develop in the directions I have proposed. So far, I have used my L&D budget for expanding my railway industry knowledge, completing innovation and strategy training, learning more about leadership and organizational development topics from top business books, as well as polishing my German language skills. This year I would like to participate in an entrepreneurship conference, gain more insights into M&A, and work towards obtaining a PMP certification.

What do you think is especially cool about L&D at KONUX?

I especially enjoy the freedom I have in selecting topics for my development.

Any impact you already experienced from the activities?

I am already applying newly gained knowledge in everyday work.
